[News] 2PM for Cosmopolitan photoshoot, shedding the beasty idol image

‘Beasty Idol’ 2PM has recently done a photoshoot with a dandy charms, different from that of when they were performing on stage.

2PM did the photoshoot and interview on ‘Sexy Body’ on the September issue of livestyle magazine Cosmopolitan.

2PM, who gained much popularity through their recent 2nd album ‘Again & Again’ said, “As compared to the 1st album, we hear a lot of comment like ’sexy’ and ‘manly’ when we were promoting for the 2nd album. As a group which have to show a lot of performances on stage, we need to keep our build in shape it is important.”

Meanwhile, other artistes featured for the September issue of Cosmopolitan are Tiger JK, Daniel Henney’s photoshoot in Bali, Lee JiAh in ‘Style’ drama etc.

[News] 2PM to release their new album in the Middle of October

The group best known as ‘Beastly Idols’ 2PM, who has always given powerful performances, will make comeback in autumn.

One of the members of JYP revealed ‘2PM will be coming back in the middle of October with a new album. They will come back with a more explosive performance and also with their great charisma’.

The hit single that was released in April ‘Again and Again’ ‘I Hate You’ will be followed by another great album. Recently the ‘Beastly Idols’ Have appeared in many variety shows to show their quailty and entertaining personalities which has recieved alot of love from fans.

Producer Park Jin Young has caught a lot of attention of from curious fans of how he will change the style of music. Recently on twitter JYP said ‘I made da 1st song for 2pm. It’s a totally new style of music. I don’t even know what style it is. It’s so crazy!’ hew showed great enthusiasm towards the new song. Also the recent news that he was also doing the choreography.

[News] Japanese writer of Korea-Japan joint production “Heaven’s Postman” : “TVXQ’s Hero Jaejoong was great in acting”

According to the officials on the 17th, in last June when the staffs were watching the premiere of Tele Cinema trailer video including Japan staff writer Eriko Kitagawa, the Japanese writer said, “I think Jaejoong suits the image of his drama character well. I feel the character of drama is saved (by Jaejoong). I’m looking forward to it.” revealing a positive response.

“Heaven’s Postman” is written by Eriko Kitagawa who is known for writing Japan popular drama “Long Vacation” and directed by PD Lee Hyeong-min who is known for his KBS2TV drama “I’m Sorry I Love You.”

This drama is the first challenge for the male lead Kim Jaejoong whose role is as a soul drifting in real world, carrying a mysterious-feeling character. While the heroine is led by Han Hyo-joo who already gained quite fame in Japan for her role in PD Yoon Suk-ho drama “Spring Waltz”.

The reaction of audience regarding Heaven’s Postman:

Through Tele Cinema 7 dramas focus group to measure audience rating in progress, Samhwa Network publisher announced that “Heaven’s Postman” currently occupies 2nd place. The first rank of audience rating is grabbed by “Triangle”, starring actors Ahn Jae-wook and Kang Hye-jeong.

Meanwhile, Tele Cinema which is a coorporation project of Japan’s top seven popular drama writers and Korean wave’s producers and artists will greet the audiences through screen starting September this year while Heaven’s Postman starring Hero Jaejoong and Han Hyo-joo will air in the end of October at the earliest, by SBS.

TVXQ adds an album, a single and a DVD to their list of releases that reached Gold as approved by the Recording Industry Association of Japan

The Recording Industry Association of Japan has acknowledged a million singles and albums sold, namely TVXQ’s Five in the Black album released March of last year, Stand By U single released in July and launched in August of last year, TVXQ’s 3rd Live Tour T. These releases have exceeded the 100,000 mark and is now recognized as Gold.

Moreover, this has made the fact that three of the members of TVXQ, Yoochun, Junsu and Jaejoong applied for a provisional injuction of their exclusive contracts, even more eye-catching. In Japan, TVXQ’s popularity continues to grow despite increasing speculation of the future.

Meanwhile, TVXQ members Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu’s submission of an Evidence Preservation application has been accepted by the court. Therefore SME and the members are doing the negotiations gently.

The three members went to the Seoul District Court last July 31 to apply for a provisional injunction to stop their exclusive contracts with SME, sending a shock in the entertainment industry. It was revealed that until the Evidence Preservation application was filed, it has been realized that the situation is more serious than expected.

The court accepted the application and the SME side was asked to submit relevant documents. Evidence Preservation states that all income and expenditure accounting, the contracts, receipts, vouchers must be given up.

Accordingly, it seems that a new phase of this case is to be expected as the revenues of the group and distribution of finances are released.

TVXQ’s Xiah Junsu (Kim Junsu), YoungWoong Jaejoong (Kim Jaejoong), and Micky Yoochun (Park Yoochun), who filed for a Exclusive Contract Validity Suspension and Provisional Disposition Request against SM Entertainment on July 31st, have finally released their official statement.

The three revealed today that, “For the past five years, the agency has been controlling everything and because of everything we have gone through, we are so worn out mentally and physically.”

Kim Junsu, Kim Jaejoon, and Park Yoochun debuted in group TVXQ in the early months of 2004 and have been, with the order of SM, traveling back and forth from Korea, Japan and China. They have been completing their schedules by sleeping only 3~4 hours every night every single day except for one week of the year. Because of this, the three members’ health has been affected greatly and the amount of stress and mental weariness they received was huge. However, the more SM got TVXQ involved in foreign activities, the more tiring and almost impossible the activities became. The three members finally began to feel like they were no longer SM artistes who were striving to reach their dreams, but mere tools for the agency to get money.But the three still wish to continue with their activities as a singer according to their own visions.

#2 The exclusive contract that was set for 13 years is in fact a ’slave contract’

When they talk of the exclusive contract, they refer to their contract that lasts 13 years. However, when they add the years they will serve in the military, the period will extend to at least 15 years which would mean that they would have to be celebrities under SM’s rule for at least ten more years before they could even consider retiring. If they were to cancel their contract before the 13 years were over, they would have to pay a fine that was thrice the amount of all the investments made and twice the amount of how much they earned. As this amount would add up to tens of millions of dollars if they were to cancel their contract, they had no other choice but to stay at SM under the same conditions they are suffering because of right now.

#3 The members did not receive as much as they should have for their hard work

Just because they were tied to such a contract, doesn’t mean they received fair treatment from SM for their hard work. They received no money for the contract, and when the division of income is seen for their albums, their contract states that each member can receive 1000,000 won only if they sell more than 500,000 copies of their album. If they do not reach 500,000 copies, they do not receive a single won from the income earned from the album This clause was altered on 2009.2.6 but even after the alteration, the members only receive around 0.4~1% each from the album sales.

#4 The members have tried numerous times to fix the contract, but SM did not listen to their pleas.

Therefore, the three members repeatedly asked for a suspension of their exclusive contract so they could follow their own visions of being a singer, but SM tried to move the spotlight towards the three’s cosmetic company, which has nothing to do with this trial. So the three people believed that the least they could do was have the two sides talk and reach a compromise that both sides would agree on and even offered to find a proper place to do so, but not only did SM ignore this, their past and current attitude made it almost impossible for there to be any talks with SM. There was no hope for any talks to happen with the agency and that is why the three members decided to file this lawsuit.

#5 The investment in the cosmetic company was something they did outside of their activities as a celebrity, it has nothing to do with this lawsuit. The focus point is the unlawfulness of the exclusive contract.

SM revealed in their official statement that the three members were filing this lawsuit because of problems that arose because of the cosmetic company. However, the members’ investment in the cosmetic company has nothing to do with this lawsuit. The company SM is referring to is the Chinese branch of the company that the three members invested in, and this was purely a personal investment that had nothing to do with their activities as celebrities. No one can say that TVXQ should lose everything they have worked so hard for until now just because of an investment of $1 million in a cosmetic company that is opening in China; that is ridiculous to even consider. The core of what the members see as a problem is the unlawfulness of the exclusive contract. SM must stop trying to move the spotlight to the cosmetic company that has nothing to do with the case.

#6 None of the members want to disband, all they want is to escape from the tirades of their contract.

They realized that many fans feared that a disbandment would arise from this lawsuit. However, this lawsuit should never be linked to the possible disbandment of the group. Only the three members are involved in this process because of a difference in opinion of a method of approach between the members, but there are no strains whatsoever between the members and they all wish to keep their promise to their fans and stay together. If they had even a small chance to fix the unlawful clauses in their contract and pursue their music careers in the way they wanted, they were willing to go through with this process with only the firm belief that all five of them would be able to stand on one stage together in front of their fans even after this ordeal.

#7 They take this as a step to become more mature

The three members are extremely sorry for frightening the fans who care so much about TVXQ with this lawsuit, but they believe this is a step towards a bigger dream. They promise that they will be able to come out of this situation as better people and a better group if they receive support from their fans.

In a press release today, 3 members of the 5-member idol group TVXQ which is managed by SM Entertainment, Jejung (Stage name: Hero, Real name: Kim Jaejoong), Yuchun (Stage name: Micky, Real name: Park Yoochun) and Junsu (Stage name: Xiah, Real name: Kim Junsu), also touched on the topic of “disbandment”.

Xiah, hero, and micky made public announce through SeJong, on August 3rd.

Xiah, hero, and micky are the members of group TVXQ and they made debut in 2004. They had to travel Korea, Japan, and China and perform their schedules by sleeping only 3~4 hours a day except a week in a year by their management company, SM`s instructions. Their mental and physical health conditions were getting so worse because of the tired schedules, but SM tried to enter them to abroad and made unreasonable one-sided schedules. Finally, the three members realized that they cannot achieve what they want as artists in SM, and would be used as just tools to make profit of SM.

2. The period of 13 years actually means whole life contract.

however, according to their contract, the contract period is 13 years and would be more than 15 years including the military period that they will serve. And it means more than 10 years are remaining and it would be whole life contract that until when they would retire. And if they break the contract, they should pay more than three times of investment or two times of profit. Although they break the contract with the mutual agreement with SM, they have to pay the money. In other words, it was actually impossible to break the contract, so they had to follow them.

3. The members never got appropriate treatment that reflects how they tried.

It does not mean the members got appropriate treatment that reflects how they tried. Not only there was no deposit, but also they could get less than 10 thousand dollars only in the situation when the albums were sold more than a half million in one day, and if not, they could not get any money. according to the first contract. The beauty business investment that SM made an issue is about the investment that three members invested to the beauty company entering to China, and it is a financial investment that has no relationship with entertainment activities. It does not make sense that `the members made provisional disposition that they might forgive everything they achieved as TVXQ because they invested almost 100 million dollars of money to the beauty company entering to China`. The true essence that the members wants to talk about of this situation would be inappropriate contract, and SM should stop trying to make an excuse immediately by telling about the beauty business investment that has nothing with this situation.

6. the members does not want to disorganize TVXQ and just try to get rid of inappropriate contract.

Lots of fans are worried about disorganization of TVXQ about this situation. however, making provisional disposition does not on the disorganization of TVXQ. Now, three members are participating the provisional disposition because of the difference of ideas about the way to solve the problem, but there is no problem between the members, and they are as same as the past that they want to keep promise they made with fans that they would be one forever together. If this situation change the inappropriate contract and they can do what they want as artists, everyone can be together as one in front of the fans.

7. We will think it as the chance to be more mature.

We are sorry that fans who care about TVXQ may surprised a lot and be disappointed, but if you try to think it would be the chance to be more mature for bigger dream, and cheer us, we will promise to compensate you as more mature TVXQ.

Lawyer Lim Sang Hyuk of Sejong Law Firm, who is in representing YoungWoong Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun and Xiah Junsu in this case, had a phone conversation with Money Today Star News on the 1st and said, “In order to know of TVXQ’s exact income, we have filed for a preservation of evidence request along with the Exclusive Contract Validity Suspension and Provisional Disposition Request Form.”

Lawyer Lim said they filed the preservation of evidence request form because, “The members have never been told by their entertainment agency of the exact amount of the income TVXQ earn,” and “Usually in the case of a dispute between an exclusive contract, the people who are filing the lawsuit present a sum of money they wish to receive as compensation after going through the contract. The following is phone interview with legal representation of the three members of TVXQ, Im Sang-hyuk from SEJONG law firm:

- What is the core of conflict?

“The irrational exclusive contract. If we review the contract standard from Fair Trade Comission (FTC), the longest duration of a contract is not to exceed 7 years. Of course, if the singer themselves who choose to develop the contract, it might be an exception, but some of given terms in TVXQ’s FTC case, the proposed standards are so unfair in many ways. It is the best way to realize these points quickly than later”

- Also the cosmetics enterprise which three member and their parents running became known as one axis of the conflict.

“The cosmetics company could be one of the reasons for the discord but not what ultimately convinced the three members to go to court. We have examined the official statement from SM this morning and noticed that SM had painted the make up company as the cause in a negative light on the surface of their statement. If they think that the additional business of the members is the legal case, then it’s a mistake.”

- There’s a conclusion appearing about the crisis that the activities of 3 members who file the lawsuit will be stopped?

(I cant understand this one in details, but basically he said that the members would continue if their disposition is approved, and he hoped it would be soon. The court’s desicion is now in the middle of the most important and difficult variables and he had goal to finish the case within 6 months.”

- The possibility of winning?

“To see it on the bright side… SM Entertainment has in the past been ordered by the Korea FTC several times to reform contracts for violating the standard contract limits. TVXQ are now appealing for the parts that are different from the FTC terms.

- Before taking the legal action, it’s said that the members did not try to make consultation with the agency before.

“We have tried to solve the problem through dialogue. Members had even met directly with the agency. While I was also trying to resolve the problem through multiple channels. However, the agency ignored members opinions, therefore a legal appeal finally made. The members are very sorry to the fans as well.

- What is the conflict regarding to cosmetic issue?

“Should an agency has a fight with artists who are having family’s personal investment? Other celebrities are common to have additional business. Moreover, the three members had already made consultation process with agency representative, Kim Young-Min before they started the cosmetic business, but we feel betrayed then as the company told another story later on.

- TVXQ has already taken the step, but eventually dismantled

“We have already tried many ways, but all the efforts finally bring us here. We’re not too hasty to be in this position. We create legal procedure first before we present every single new plan. The 5 people based their activities together in SM Entertainment, therefore it will not be easy to be in our situation now. “

- Is there a plan for press conference?

It’s necessary but as for now, we don’t have any plan yet. The members are really sorry now to the fans. Actually we want to proceed this case undisturbed.
